  2. The Antislavery and War of 1812 volumes will be available as e-books.

(The other series volumes will be hardcover only. The e-book rights are with the original publishers or estates, which may make them available on their own.)

  3. This is a mouth watering selection without a doubt. I don't think there are any books on here that I will pass over.

  4. I'm afraid I don't agree with Kerouac's inclusion in LOA. Truman Capote's observation on Kerouac's "On the Road" was dead on: "That isn't writing, it's typing." It's sad that true poets like Bryant and Whittier are not yet represented, yet we're first given Kerouac's poems... Sorry, but Kerouac was anything but a poet. Furthermore, a true poet like Longfellow is winnowed down to a single "selected" volume, while Kerouac gets the royal multivolume treatment. Sad. I just wonder who on LOA's advisory panel voted for Kerouac's inclusion? Doubtless, those people are older men who remember Kerouac fondly from their youth of the 1950s or 60s... But as we all know, much of what we read and loved as youths we now recognize as trash -- at least those of us do who grew up and acquired taste.
